Malaysia: Five Reasons to Stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka
A quirky town with old school buildings, colorful murals and streets lined up with boutiques, cafes and a few makeshift stalls, Melaka is truly a beautiful place to be. It’s only a couple of hours from Kuala Lumpur and luxury buses run to Melaka from KL Sentral, KLIA and KLIA2. In Melaka, I stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka for three nights. The hotel is not inside the old town but it’s only a quick Grab ride away from old town charm and if you want to join the Jonker Street night market. You can also take a Grab to Melaka Straits Mosque. However, Hilton Melaka also has a shuttle service to explore the landmarks and tourist attractions in the city.
1. The rooms are spacious and luxe
I stayed in a King Deluxe Room. The deluxe room was spacious with a comfortable bed. You can relax in the armchair and watch a movie on the huge flat screen TV. There’s also a work desk with power outlets and I found it very helpful. I worked for a few hours completing my last minute projects and urgent edits with the help of free, high-speed WiFi. Apart from the rain shower, you can also enjoy a bath. I loved having free tea and coffee in the room.
2. The pool is an ideal place to relax
DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka has a gorgeous pool, and our room (18th floor) opened up to the views of the pool on the 13th floor. Apart from sunbeds, there are also a few tables by the pool (part of the in-house Italian restaurant Tosca — more about it below), which is ideal if you’ve some quick work such as replying to emails. From the pool, you could see the colorful town dotted with skyscrapers.
3. You can Enjoy authentic Italian dinner at Tosca
If I have to name one thing I loved the most about Hilton Melaka, it has to be the authentic Italian food served at Tosca. The beautiful trattoria has both indoor seating with air conditioning and outdoor seating by the pool. The warm tones and beautiful interiors of the restaurant invite for a memorable dining experience. It is an open kitchen with a purpose-built pizza oven and a bar. I had dinner here for two nights — both days a wonderful three-course meal. I especially loved beef bolognese I had during my first night and the creamy gnocchi dish I had for my last dinner here.
4. Beautiful views from the Sky Desk at Hatten City
The sky desk is located in the Elements Mall next to DoubleTree. As hotel guests, you can just show your room key and visit the Sky Desk for free. The Sky Desk reception is located on Level G of Elements Mall. Located on the 44th floor, it gives a 360-degree view of the Melaka City and gorgeous views of the Straits of Melaka. It’s also very convenient if you want to buy a few last-minute outfits and swimwear at affordable prices.
5. You can start your day with a huge breakfast buffet
What can I do! I eat a lot and I was delighted to see (you will love it too!) the huge breakfast buffet at Makan Kitchen, the in-house restaurant of DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka. The breakfast spread wonderfully demonstrates the diversity of Malaysian cuisine with local dishes from Malay, Indian and Chinese specialties. You can also enjoy a classic English breakfast here.
Melaka is definitely a place you should go to when you visit Malaysia, and a stay at the gorgeous DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka will make your trip more memorable.
I would like to thank Hilton Hotels for organizing my stay with them, but as always opinions are honest and entirely my own.
