Review: t-Lounge by Dilmah (Chatham Street)

The t-Lounge by Dilmah was our 7th stop for the day and we still loved it. Yes, in one single day we tried out seven different restaurants and that pretty much explains the ‘foodies’ in us. The reason we went to t-Lounge by Dilmah in Chatham Street? Zin got this amazing opportunity to attend a tea-tasting event held by Dilmah at their t-Lounge in Arcade Independence Square. And she loved it. The rest, we believe, you could imagine. She couldn’t stop talking how amazing the experience was and she convinced Nat to go with her the VERY. NEXT. DAY.

At t-Lounge by Dilmah, you are greeted with a shot of Jade Butterfly White Tea which tastes like heaven on earth. And folks, this is not your ordinary ‘kade.’ We were literally amazed by the things you could do with tea. Tea shakes, tea mocktails, iced teas, tea ice-cream and whatnot. Despite having a heavy brunch at Commons and sipping a coffee at Coffee Bean, we were still pretty much up for a gastronomical adventure.

We ordered one Tandoori Chicken Crepe, one Blueberry & Pomegranate Iced Tea and one Ceylon Blast. The Tandoori Chicken Crepes were freshly made, the pancake was thin and soft while the chicken was of glorious texture. It was a striking dish and tasted quite nice. The Ceylon Blast we ordered was a mocktail contained Dilmah’s Rose and Vanilla Tea which balanced the flavours of chicken crepes very well. Blueberry & Pomegranate Iced Tea was quite sweet but overall very refreshing and was the ideal drink for Sri Lanka’s hot weather.

The atmosphere here is cozy. Pretty romantic, too. In fact it’s our favourite place in Colombo to while away the hours or read a book sipping our fave cuppa. The place is spacious with comfy couches so it doesn’t always get packed and you will find a little corner to yourself.

Everyday in Colombo, you see a mushroom growth of coffee shops here and there but of course not places devoted to tea. The t-Lounge by Dilmah is an answer to that. With much better food and service coupled with cozy, quirky ambience.
